Publish date: 08 April 2022 / Health

On March 20, World Oral Health Day, the agents of Esther Pharma International (EPI), which represents PPM laboratories in Côte d’Ivoire, went to meet dentists and dental surgeons in several cities of the Ivory Coast – Abidjan, Bouaké, Aboisso, San Pédro, Daloa – to promote the SEPTYL BB range of mouthwashes, as well as the KINAL range of painkillers.

In Bouaké, the second largest in the country, Esther Pharma supported on March 19 the action of the city’s dental surgeons’ association which had initiated an awareness session for the population on oral pathologies and their complications. This session, which gathered more than 500 people, was followed by free consultations. To actively contribute to this action, Esther Pharma donated 60 boxes of KINAL CODEINE, 60 boxes of SEPTYL BB, two hundred tongue depressors, 1000 pairs of gloves, 450 medical masks as well as an envelope of 100,000 CFA francs (about 170 dollars).

In Ayamé, this WOHDay was animated on March 21 by the city’s general hospital dental office, which has two dentists, a prosthetist and an assistant. The team visited a school with a kindergarten and an elementary school.

The aim was to explain to the children the necessity of brushing their teeth, with a demonstration, and to show them the consequences of not doing so on a daily basis. After having been encouraged to go regularly to the dentist, a free consultation session, which also benefited the teachers and the school management, took place.

As in Bouaké, EPI expressed its support by donating 100 tongue depressors, 200 pairs of gloves, 100 masks, 30 bottles of KINAL IBU syrup and an envelope of 50,000 CFA francs (85 USD).

Finally, on the same day, promotional activities for KINAL COFEINE and AEPTYL BB were conducted in dental offices in Abidjan, San Pédro and Daloa.

According to Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa, more than 480 millions people on the continent suffer from oral diseases such as caries, periodontal disease and tooth loss, most of which are preventable. “Good oral health is an essential component of overall health, well-being and quality of life,” she said on the occasion of the International Day, calling, among other things, for concrete measures to limit the distribution, promotion and sale of products that cause oral diseases, while improving access to affordable, safe, effective and quality oral health equipment, appliances and products.
